‘Cuz what you see you might not get Somehow, blowing things up never gets old—especially blowing up Nazis. Sixty-five years after the fall of the Third Reich, it’s still a gaming favorite. As the titular Saboteur, Irish mechanic turned French freedom-fighter Sean Devlin, you throw a wrench into the gears of the Nazi occupation in 1940… except this wrench is actually a wad of TNT that detonates in a spectacular fireball

To celebrate its release we are giving away, in association with Intel, a limited edition PC, equipped with an Intel Core i7-860 processor. Not only that, five runners-up will receive a copy of the game and an Intel Core i7-860 processor

In a move that could shake the foundations of the high-end analogue world, Hanss Acoustics has created the T-30 – a high mass (37.8kg), multi-arm turntable that can be snapped up for just £3,600. Chinese company Hanss Acoustic makes phono stages, equipment supports and a CD player but its range of turntables is something else. The T-30 is the middle model of three substantial turntables with impressive build and an awful lot of precisely turned aluminium for the money. With two substantial motors, two armbases, a separate power supply, and no fewer than six belts, it ticks all the boxes for the hardcore analogue fiend. All you need is a big enough equipment support

Google has always been tight-lipped about products that haven’t launched yet. It’s no secret, however, that thanks to the company’s bottom-up culture, its engineers are working on tons of new projects at the same time. Following the mantra of ‘release early, release often’, the speed at which the search engine giant is churning out tools is staggering. At the heart of it all is Alfred Spector, Google’s Vice President of Research and Special Initiatives

Acer’s gone and released an 11.-6-inch touchscreen convertible laptop that’s currently being test driven in France. It’s called the Aspire 1420P, and underneath the hood sits a dual-core Intel Celeron SU2300 CULV processor rather than an Atom chip. What that means is despite its size, typical netbook-esque speed limits don’t apply, Other vitals include Intel’s integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics, 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an SD card reader, HDMI and VGA ports, and Windows 7 Home Premium. The tablet also comes equipped with a 6-cell battery Acer claims will provide between 6 and 8 hours of juice. At least one French retailer is selling the unit for about $690, which seems a little on the high side

The French government has announced plans to do away with internet passwords, exchanging the security system for a ‘digital certificate’. According to French newspaper 20 Minutes , the scheme has been concocted by the French Secretary of State (and digital economy bod) Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet who hopes the idea of a digital certificate will be picked up by French websites. So far 20 have signed up to the project, where users of the sites will be allowed access once their certification is verified. It’s not just any old websites, either, who have become part of the trial but the French Banking Federation, the Federation of French Insurers and La Poste.

The first Android handset from the Korean firm, the LG Intouch Max GW620, has taken a different direction to its competitors – there are very few Android phones that have aimed at the lower end of the handset spectrum, and it’s interesting that the Korean firm has chosen this tack. However, while the costs have been kept down to make it a competitor to the HTC Tattoo , LG has still added a decent amount of innovation into the mix, by offering the choice of the vanilla Android experience or its own S-Class interface, offering a new level of functionality. The phone itself is small – a 3.2-inch HVGA resistive pales in comparison with the Google Nexus One phone , with its massive 3.7-inch OLED capacitive screen – but the Intouch Max GW620 also brings a full keyboard and a decent array of buttons as well. The outside of the phone is well designed in pretty premium plastic – it’s light, but still feels solid in the hand. The 3.5mm headphone socket sits at the top next to he power/lock button, and is also raised so the headphone jack sits flush with the chassis – something we haven’t seen much of in newer handsets, which leave the metal of the headphone jack exposed.

What started as a hacking attack on Google began to have significant repercussions across the world last week, as French, German and Australian authorities recommended PC users avoid Internet Explorer until a critical security flaw was fixed. Although a patch has now been issued , these security alerts are less clear about exactly what you should use instead, though, which might leave you with a question: which is the most secure browser? The answer, unfortunately, is none of them. Every browser has its share of security problems, and the worst offenders aren’t always who you might think
